All of our earliest lighting products were based on our recycling roots. Through the years the company evolved creatively, and we learned new skills such as ironwork and welding. We hand-made our first forge for the ironwork. It was not very fuel efficient so ultimately we purchased a forge from England that could offer more fuel efficiency.
Many of our lighting products are offered as compact fluorescent products. When possible we try to incorporate electronic ballasts in many of our sconces and pendant lights. If clients come to our showroom we like to encourage the designs to be green.
One example is the Santa Fe, New Mexico Sweeny Center where we provided pendant lights. When the old Sweeny Center became the new Santa Fe Community Convention Center we are proud to have been included for the decorative lighting package for that project. We were even happier, that the pendant fixtures we had originally completed for the Sweeny Center were then retro-fitted with electronic ballasts for compact flourescent fixtures.
In another example we provided over 700 lights for hotel hallways that utilized compact fluorescent. At the suggestion of our company the hotel chose to use this type of electronic ballast. This was the 2008 project at Buffalo Thunder Resort near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Firefly Lighting worked with the project manager to assure that the designs were compact fluorescent and we expanded our capability when we completed a project of this size for the Pojoaque Pueblo. It shows the possibilities for projects that make a differnce in energy consumption.
In 2009 we completed LEED project with the prestigious builder, Wolf Corporation. It included chandeliers with LED lamps. In addition, we recently completed a new branch of Los Alamos National Bank on Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico with the Jaynes Corporation, another reputable builder in the area. For this project we provided pendant lights and sconces for interior and exterior.
In honor of our roots we are proud to offer to the public these wonderful hand made products that are in our Green Gifts Store. All of the products that we show in the store are made from either recycled tin-coated steel cans or other materials that often include vintage sources.

We are also innovating as we see new uses for common items that are thrown away. It is so exciting to consider new uses for old stuff. Stay tuned for exciting new developments. We are happy anytime we can take existing trash and make something re-used that is creative and utilitarian. We refer to it as Trash to Treasure and we are interested in your ideas, input or information about innovative ways to re-use trash.
